Ipoh, also known as City of Bougainvilleas, has its name derived from the city's abundance of the flora. The name 'Ipoh' comes from 'Epau' tree (antiaris toxicaria), a colossal poisonous jungle tree that used to be very common in the area. Being the 3rd largest city in Malaysia, it is divided into two parts, Old Town and New Town by Kinta River.
